Lessons from the Climate Emergency Unit & BC Budget Analysis
a few recommended resources
A few quick items to share this week:
New podcast interview with Green Majority Radio
The latest episode of Green Majority Radio/Podcast features an interview with yours truly. I really enjoyed this conversation with show host Stefan Hostetter, looking back and reflecting on the 5-year experience of the Climate Emergency Unit. We talked about what worked, what didn’t, and what we learned.
I invite you to have a listen to Assessing the Climate Emergency Unit w/ Seth Klein (and feel free to share the episode with friends and colleagues).
You can listen on Apple Podcasts here, or on Spotify here.
BC Budget analysis
For those of you in British Columbia looking for a solid and balanced progressive break-down of this week’s BC Budget, I recommend the analysis from BC Policy Solutions. Iglika Ivanova (co-Executive Director and Senior Economist) and Véronique Sioufi (Racial Equity Researcher and Policy Analyst) were in the budget lock-up and provide this thorough take on the good and bad – Making sense of BC Budget 2026. The analysis outlines what BC Budget 2026 means for social services, poverty, health care, education, climate action, seniors, housing, child-care, tax fairness, the deficit and more.
If you prefer your analysis in video form, I highly recommend the recording of an outstanding post-Budget webinar hosted by BC Policy Solutions, with Iglika & Véronique, and joined by Sven Biggs from Stand.earth offering climate-focused analysis of the budget. Rather than summarizing their analysis here, just have a watch. You can do so here: https://bcpolicy.ca/2026/02/19/budget2026-webinar/
And if you are appreciative of this progressive analysis, I encourage you to become a supporter of BC Policy Solution’s work (I am a proud board member of this relatively new BC think tank, launched last year by almost all the former team of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives’ now shuttered BC office). New website debunks the economic case for LNG and new fossil fuel infrastructure
If you are looking for a great new source for Canadian climate and economics analysis, I recommend this recently launched website – We Are Adamant. As the site explains:
“Canada stands at a crossroads that will define our economic future for generations. We have everything we need to engineer an economy that works better, yet governments subsidize yesterday’s industries while tomorrow’s opportunities go unfunded. We are Adamant that we choose better.
Too often major policy decisions happen without honest economic analysis. Rosy industry projections don’t account for changing market conditions or competitive dynamics. Fossil fuel subsidies and LNG exports create significant risks to our future. Clean economy investments build lasting value.
Adamant rebalances the playing field by translating independent economic analysis into accessible content for decision-makers, business leaders, working people, and citizens.”

That’s all for now.
