Hi Seth - totally agree about the need and potential for crown corps. My proposal would be for the feds to treat municipalities as crown corps for the climate emergency. They could rapidly implement large-scale mitigation and adaptation projects that would create jobs, and they are better positioned than any other order of government to cultivate the public buy-in and collaboration that is critical for success. They have the plans and strategies developed, they just don’t have the money or the revenue tools to get it. I know funding cities doesn’t play well politically in our skewed electoral system, but if we want to be ruthlessly efficient, why not simply invest in these existing ‘crown corps’?
